When I started my full-time career, I believed I would retire at 55 and launch my own business. Back then, 55 felt like a lifetime away—and honestly, it sounded old! But the dream of having more control over my time and continuing to do work I truly cared about never left me.

Fast forward a few decades… and here I am. Just past 55, preparing to retire from a traditional career and finally step into the next chapter—one that offers more flexibility, freedom, and fulfillment.

As I began telling people I was retiring, the questions rolled in:
"Are you counting down the days?"
"Are you planning to work… or just have fun?"

Here’s the truth: work still matters to me. Not the traditional 9-to-5, but meaningful work—on my own terms. I see retirement not as the end, but as a pivot point—a chance to relaunch, try new things, stay engaged, and yes, continue earning income in a way that aligns with my values and lifestyle.

Retiring and relaunching is a bittersweet, exciting, and eye-opening journey. I’ve learned so much already—and I know there’s still more to discover.
